Himbleton Church of England First School & Nursery

Values and ethos

Fostering enquiring minds and reflective hearts

Recognising its historic foundation, the School will preserve and develop its religious character in accordance with the principals of the Church of England and in partnership with the Church at parish and diocesan levels.

The School aims to serve its community by providing an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice. It encourages an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith and promotes Christian values through the experience it offers to all its pupils.

Our school values support everything we do at Himbleton, and are woven into teaching and learning, and everyday school life, including Worship. We feel that they are very important and will help everyone at Himbleton to live their lives, and be good people.

As a school community based on Christian foundations we aim to develop and demonstrate the following values in all that we do: Friendship, Teamwork, Honesty, Forgiveness, Patience and Persistence. These values were chosen by the whole community and explicit links are made to the Christian Bible as to the source of these values.

  • Effective teamwork forms the basis of a professional and motivated staff who always put children first
  •  A caring Christian ethos nurtures positive relationships, with all equally valued, celebrated and proud of achievements
  •  An engaging, relevant and fun curriculum ensures children are well prepared for education, work and life
  • A culture of challenge and high expectation is promoted to maximise individual potential
  • An awareness of self, community and global issues fosters responsible behaviour with respect for all
  • Children are taught in a stimulating learning environment where high quality resources are paramount
